What is a JRP senior session like?

We know how difficult it is to work one more thing into your busy schedules… but we also know how important it is to capture these beautiful moments. That’s why we help take care of the prep work for you!

  • Depending on which collection you selected, there will be a time for hair and makeup, or you will go straight to the first location to shoot. If you chose the session that includes a hair and makeup artist, the senior and photographer will communicate a meeting place for each service. JRP collaborates with multiple hair and makeup artists, therefore, meeting times and locations may vary for different seniors. After both services are complete, or if you performed these yourself (selected the collection without the hair and makeup artist) the senior and photographer will meet and follow each other to the first location.

  • On average, there should only be a few blocks of walking. However, in some cases, extensive walking across a park, up hills, etc. will occur. Therefore, please be aware that the shoes you are wearing are comfortable for events such as these. If not, please make sure to bring a pair of comfortable slip-on shoes to switch in and out of during periods of walking. It it also a good idea during this time to have items such as water to stay hydrated during the morning and early afternoon, lip and face products to do touch-ups, and hair products for those that know their hair may not hold. In addition, outfit changes will happen on-location. Plan on allowing 2-3 hours of shooting time, in addition to travel time. Be prepared to have a great time!

  • There will be a 3-5 week time frame for the editing and retouching process. During this time, the photographer will contact you to set up one-on-one preview. Jana Rodmaker Photography will help you choose from a variety of collections to complete your ordering process! And depending on the time of year, please allow 3 weeks for your order to be submitted, printed, and arrive. The photographer will proof each print to ensure superior quality, and will contact you for pickup/delivery.

Why should I get my hair and makeup professionally done?

There is a difference between everyday makeup and professional makeup for photo shoots. Having hair and makeup is not only a fun experience, but most importantly, it creates a polished look that holds throughout the 3+ hour shooting session. My goal is for you to love your look and feel beautiful, confident, and excited about your shoot!

What do I wear?

Whether you are wanting a boho, urban and chic, or natural-country look, I will give you a list of places to shop for today's senior trends. Together, we can discuss your outfit choices to compliment your overall look and style!

How can I book my session with you?

The best thing you can do is to book your session early! I book my sessions in advance and have to turn seniors away because I am completely sold out by the summer of your graduating year! When you are ready to book your session, we will decide a session time together and you will submit your session retainer fee and complete a client contract.

When do you schedule your senior sessions?

Senior sessions typically take place on Saturdays. Remember, you session will begin about three hours before actual shooting time. This will allow time for hair, makeup, and travel time.
